IPSTAR is offering a great range of nbnTM Sky MusterTM  plans with enough data for light internet users or larger data allowances for heavier internet users. Speeds range from up to 12/1 Mbps to 25/5 Mbps.

Our plans include extra off-peak bonus data which can be used from 1am to 7am (local time). You can also choose from our popular “Anytime” plans which allow you to get connected to the world at any time you want to.

  • Total minimum cost over contract term calculated as monthly access fee x contract term + equipment (if applicable).
  • ±Data Allowance : All plans include both upload and download data towards your usage quota. Peak times are defined by nbn co as between 7:00am and 1:00am (18 hours – local time zone). Once you reach your peak or off-peak monthly data allowance, service will be shaped to 128kbps/128kbps in peak or off-peak times. Data block can be purchased through MyIPSTAR portal.
  • Contract term : 1-month means no contract term, no set up fee and no termination fee. 12-month means 12 month term, no set up fee and $150 early termination fee. 24-month means 24 month term, no set up fee and $250 early termination fee.
  • ˆSpeed might vary due to several factors such as location, weather and other technical limitations.

Contract options

 

Your set-up and termination fee may vary subject to your choice of contract length. Minimum contract term is 30 days. An early termination fee applies to a 12-month and 24-month contract if you want to cancel IPSTAR service before your contract end date. However, you will receive a free router (TP-Link Archer C2 or equivalent) if you sign up for our 24-month plan (excluding Star Muster 10-10, 15-45, and Anytime Star Muster 30) or you can purchase a router from us at a discount rate ($60 for TP-Link Archer C2) if you choose to go for our 12-month plan (excluding Star Muster 10-10, 15-45, and Anytime Star Muster 30).

nbn™ Sky Muster™ service is a satellite broadband service via the National Broadband Network (NBN) satellite, Sky Muster which is launched in October 2015 and planned to begin operation in the first half of 2016. nbn™ Sky Muster™ service is designed to provide fast and reliable internet services to homes and businesses in rural areas in Australia and territories that fall outside the fixed line and fixed wireless areas.

nbnTM Sky MusterTM  Service FAQs

 

 

Will nbn™ cater for hard-to-reach properties, very remote communities, and offshore islands? And, what is the expected lead-time from ordering to installation of the equipment?

The new Sky Muster™ service is designed to provide rural and remote Australians with access to revolutionary satellite broadband including islands such as Cocos Islands, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. nbn has specified service level targets depending on the location. nbn will aim to complete a standard installation within 20 business days of an order for the service being placed by the internet service provider. In isolated regions on the mainland and in Tasmania, it may take up to 35 days. For limited access areas, including those which are only accessible by air or water, nbn has a target of 90 business days.

 

What is the eligibility criteria for the new Sky Muster™ service?

nbn™ satellite services are designed to provide internet services to homes and businesses that fall outside of the fixed line and fixed wireless areas in Australia and its external territories (subject to some technicial considerations, such as having line of sight to the satellites). nbn is also working on an address search function on the nbn™ website so you can find Sky Muster™ coverage areas.

 

What speed is the new Sky Muster™ service designed to offer internet service providers?

The speed options that will be available customers via the new satellite service are 12Mbps download with a 1Mbps upload, or 25Mbps download with a 5Mbps upload.

 

Can I use Voice over IP (VOIP) services?

Yes – homes and businesses on Sky Muster™ connections are capable of supporting VOIP services. However, IPSTAR is now working very hard in testing these services and we hope we can offer the services to our customers as soon as we can. Homes or businesses which have the Sky Muster™ service may have the option of retaining a copper-line voice service provided by their chosen service provider.

 

Will there be a Fair Usage Policy in place for the new Sky Muster™ service?

Yes – the Sky Muster™ service will have a Fair Use Policy in place in order to help ensure fair access to the services over the new satellites – especially during peak-usage times. Satellite capacity is a finite resource and nbn helps ensure that everyone has access to a great online experience. The Fair Use Policy are as follows:

  • 75GB or more data usage in 4 week rolling period during peak hours constitutes a breach of its Fair Use Policy.
  • 150GB or more of total data usage both peak and off-peak in 4 week rolling period constituted a breach of its Fair Use Policy.
