NBN Satellite

NBN Interim Satellite Service was launched to people in some of the most remote areas of Australia. However, it has reached its self-imposed limit of 48,000 connections. NBN Co will no longer accept any orders for new activations. Accordingly, IPSTAR has ceased accepting NBN orders; however we can connect you if you’ve moved into a premises that already has NBN Satellite equipment.

NBN Rollout Plan

 

NBN Co has announced the NBN rollout plan that is designed to offer high speed broadband access to Australians via multiple technologies. The construction plan will cover 1,500 communities and 3.5 million premises. About 93% of Australian population will get connected via NBN fixed line broadband and 4% of those will be covered by NBN fixed wireless connection. It is estimated that the average time taken from the beginning of construction to completion is 12 months. You’ll receive a notification that the NBN is coming to your area. But while you’re waiting, you can take a look at the NBN Rollout map for more information.

Install the equipment : NBN Fixed Line and Fixed Wireless

If the NBN rollout reaches your area and you have done with signing up your IPSTAR plan, the installation is now ready to start (if not done already). You will need to have fibre optic cable and NBN equipment installed to the exterior and interior of your home. We will call you to arrange an appointment with NBN Co. so the technician can visit you and the hardware can be installed. The installer will run a fibre-optic cable from your street to deliver superfast internet to your premise. NBN Co. will attach an NBN Utility box (NBN Fixed Line) or NBN Antenna (NBN Fixed Wireless) ‘outside’ your home ( or in common areas for apartments) and an NBN Connection box ‘inside’ your home.

General Information

What is NBN Fixed Wireless?

NBN Fixed Wireless service is aimed to cover areas where NBN fixed line service is unavailable (4% of Australian premises). The NBN Fixed Wireless Internet allows users to download up to 25 Mbps. That means you can download and browse a lot faster.

 

What speed will I get from NBN Fixed Wireless?

IPSTAR provides 12/1 Mbps and 25/5 Mbps of speed (download/upload) via NBN Fixed Wireless broadband.

 

What areas have NBN Fixed Wireless been rolling out?

Installation Information

How do I get the service installed and how long does it take to get the service connected?

After IPSTAR has received your signed application form, we will arrange an installation at your premise with NBN registered installer. The installer will contact you to make an appointment in advance. Please advise them of your preferred time & date of installation to avoid a delay. They might also ask you a few questions about your house and computer. The following table displays an estimated installation time frame.

What does the installation cost?

If you are eligible for the NBN fixed wireless service, a standard installation is free of charge (including equipment and installation). However, there are some extra charges occurring from service activation:

  • Set-up charge: $100 for 1-month contract term, $20 for 12-month contract term and free for 24 month contract term.

 

Is IPSTAR or NBN Co responsible for equipment warranty?

NBN Co is responsible for an equipment warranty and service calls but will not be responsible for any fault caused by the user. It would be the user’s own expense to repair.

Plan and Service Information

What are IPSTAR NBN fixed wireless plans?

IPSTAR NBN fixed wireless service comes with 12/1Mbps and 25/5 of speed. Customers can choose speed and data allowance. All plans come with a fixed monthly fee to ensure that you have no extra cost. When you reach your data allowance, we just lower your maximum speeds to 256 kbps for 50GB and 200GB plans; to 512 kbps for 500GB plan; and to 1024 kbps for 1200GB plan. The speed will be back to original maximum speed at the next billing cycle. All plans have NO peak/off peak restrictions. Total data allowance specified on each plan is counted towards both download and upload usage.

 

How can I check my current data usage?

You are able to check your current data usage when you are logged into MyIPSTAR Portal.

 

Can I change my chosen plan?

Definitely. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan once a month and your new plan will be effective from your next billing cycle. Please call us on 1300 477 888 and we will do everything for you.

Computer Information

Is there any special requirements for this service?

You may need an Ethernet port to connect your computer to NBN Modem via LAN connection. A computer with an updated operating system is also necessary for the use of service. The recommended operating systems that are compatible with the service are:

    • Windows/PC: Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
    • Mac: OS 10.4 or higher

 

Can I use this service for multiple computers/devices at the same time?

Yes you can. But you need a network router switch or a wireless router for multiple computers/devices. You can also get “N300 Wifi Gigabit Router with Voice – NF5” from us for $99 when you place the service order.

Order Withdrawal Fee : If you withdraw an order after receiving the Order Acceptance Notification, but before the Service Completion advice is issued, an Order Withdrawal Charge will be applied. If we advise you that IPSTAR cannot deliver the service, you may withdraw the order without charge.

Early Termination Fee : If you sign up for a 30 day contract term, there will be no early termination charges as long as you give us a written notice 30 days in advance. However, if you choose to sign up for 12 or 24 months and wish to terminate the service within the minimum contract term, an ETC will apply subject to your contract term.

Moving Home/Relocation Fee : Relocation of an existing End User Service is considered an add/terminate and an installation charge at the new location will apply.

Change of Speed Fee : These charges apply to speed upgrade and downgrade requests. They can only be requested before the end of the current billing month and will take effect from the first day in the next billing period. This service will be available for NBN products only and service fees will apply.
