IPSTAR Satellite Service FAQs
What are IPSTAR Satellite Broadband Service Plans?
IPSTAR only offers anytime data plans so you do not have to worry about peak/off-peak restrictions. All plans come with a fixed monthly fee to insure that you have no extra cost. When you reach your data allowance, we just lower your maximum speeds to 64/64 Kbps.
What kind of speed can I expect?
For any plan you choose, they will come with 4Mbps maximum download speed and 2Mbps maximum upload speed. Total data allowance specified on each plan is counted towards both download and upload usage. Once your data usage reaches your chosen allowance, speed will be reduced to 64/64 Kbps. The speed will be back to original maximum speed at the next billing cycle.
How can I check my current data usage?
You are able to check your current data usage when you are logged into “MyIPSTAR” portal. You can also purchase extra data blocks at anytime.
What are extra data blocks?
With some months, your chosen data allowance might be not enough and you may need to top it up with some extra data. For any data block purchases, they will be valid up to 60 days from the date of purchase. If you cannot finish the data block within the current service month it can be carried over to the next service month, and again be used after the normal data is finished. There is no peak and off-peak rule applied to the data block. The data blocks are available for all chosen plans. Please login to MyIPSTAR to see the data blocks.
Can I change my chosen plan?
Definitely. You can upgrade or downgrade your plans once a month and your new plan will be effective from your next billing cycle. The plan change option is available from MyIPSTAR portal.
Can I cancel my service?
You can cancel your service; however, advance notice of termination is required as per terms of agreement. As such requests to terminate a service need to be made in advance. Cancellation fees may apply where a minimum commitment was chosen at the time of applying for service and has not been fulfilled at the time of termination. Invoices will be sent after the termination of your service. This is because IPSTAR has always charged our customers in arrears, so further invoices will be generated after your service is terminated. These charges will be for services made available to you up until the date of termination. You will receive invoices after your service is terminated.
How many free email accounts can I have?
We will give you 3 free IPSTAR email accounts. We will ask you to choose 1 email account when you fill in the application form. This is mandatory because IPSTAR will send your billing and news update to this email account. If your chosen email name duplicates an existing email account, we will automatically change to the most similar name. Additionally, 2 email accounts can be requested when you are logged in to MyIPSTAR portal. Each email account allows you to use up to 100MB.
Do you supply voice services?
Voice services will be available shortly.
What are special requirements for my computer?
You might need to ensure your computer has an ethernet port. This requirement is very important as there will be a LAN connection between the NBN Satellite Modem and your computer. An updated computer operating system is also necessary for using the service.
The recommended operating systems that are compatible with the service are:
- Windows/PC: Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
- Mac: OS 10.4 or higher
If I have more than one computer, can I use the service at the same time?
Yes. However, you need to have a network router switch or wireless router for multiple computers. If you require multiple access but do not have any network router switch or wireless router, you can still purchase one from IPSTAR. IPSTAR can provide a “Plug N play” affordable wireless router which is compatible with the service and at a better price than retail stores. IPSTAR is also offering a free wireless router for customers who sign up 12 month contracts with some IPSTAR Satellite Service Plans.
